About Me

I have been a trauma and addictions therapist for nearly 30 years in private practice. Before that, I spent ten years as a social worker in inpatient psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center, addictions treatment at Hazelden, and eating disorder group therapy at Winners in New York, work that pointed me toward deeper training in the frameworks that still anchor my practice today.

Direct training with the founders of EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and the developmental trauma model: Francine Shapiro, Richard Schwartz, and Pia Mellody.

I trained directly under Pia Mellody, creator of the developmental trauma and Post Induction Therapy model, and I studied Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, which locates trauma in the body rather than only in memory. I also trained directly with Richard Schwartz, founder of Internal Family Systems, and I am a certified EMDR practitioner, having studied under Francine Shapiro, the therapy's founder.

I combine and integrate these modalities to suit your needs, creating sessions that are experiential and embodied, so you can fully understand your true self versus the impact of your trauma.

I also lived and worked abroad, as an exchange student in Brazil, a Peace Corps health educator in Senegal, and an English teacher in Hangzhou, China. These experiences have shaped me deeply, both in who I am and in how I approach therapy, because I understand firsthand how culture, family background, and environment shape who we become and how we relate to one another.

Sex and Love Addiction, Betrayal Trauma

I am a certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through IITAP. Guided by Pia Mellody's model of love addiction, we discover the underpinnings of sex addiction and betrayal trauma.

Psychedelic Assisted and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

I am trained through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute as a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider and through Journey Clinical in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. For people who feel stuck and have done a lot of work, this can be a helpful intervention in moving forward.

Substance Abuse and Addiction

I am a Certified Substance Abuse and Addictions Counselor. I have worked with addiction, inpatient and outpatient, since the early 1990s, and I strongly believe that recovery is possible.
